Join Ulster County Soil and Water Conservation District, Cornell Cooperative Extension Ulster County and Mary Heyer of Million Dollar Farm to tour a riparian buffer planting, discuss practices to improve soil health and local resources available to support farms including the low-cost county equipment rental program. See their new no-till drill and row mulcher in action!
Jake Wedemeyer, Travis Ferry, and Cooper Hernsdorf of UCSWCD will discuss the no-till drill, lime spreader and row mulcher available for rental, and demonstrate usage of their 12’ Esch No-Till Drill for planting cover crop and newly purchased Millcreek Row Mulcher, great for mulching berries, vineyards and orchards. Their 7’ No-Till Drill and Lime Spreader available for rental will also be on display. We will tour Million Dollar’s new riparian buffer planted with native hardwoods including maples, oaks and tulip poplar and discuss best practices for planting. Kathryn Brignac of CCE Ulster will share about Cornell’s soil health and climate resilience programs and resources available to participants for cover cropping, no-till and agroforestry practices. There will be time for discussion and to ask questions and connect with your local technical service providers.
Light refreshments will be provided.
