  • Wednesday, March 16, 2022, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County (CCEUC) is pleased to offer a workshop on Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA). Steph Herbstritt CCEUC Livestock and Natural Resources Educator will offer the training, which will be held at the Hudson Valley Research Lab in Highland, NY.

This workshop was originally scheduled for January, but was canceled due to Covid-19. Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) is a national multi-species quality assurance program for youth ages 8 to 21 with a focus on three core pillars: food safety, animal well-being, and character development. This program is accepted at many livestock shows and fairs, which require youth quality assurance. YQCA includes information for youth showing pigs, beef cattle, dairy cattle, sheep, goats, market rabbits, and poultry. This workshop is part of a grant, written by Jim O’Connell, for on farm health and safety. There is no cost to attend, but 4H Youth must register ahead of time with YQCA.

To receive the link and coupon codes, email Courtney Churchill (cmc534@cornell.edu) with CCEUC.

If you registered for the course back in January, you will receive an email from Courtney.

For questions regarding YQCA, including who should attend, please contact Steph Herbstritt (sh2234@cornell.edu).
