Due to COVID-19 the auction will take place online.
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County’s 4-H Youth have worked hard to raise their livestock for this year’s Auction. Online bidding begins on August 6 at starting at 9:00 am and closes on August 8 at 5 p.m.! The Livestock Auction is part of the 4-H Market Production Project, designed to teach the youth about raising animals for meat production. They attend educational meetings about proper handling, market specifications and business aspects. Each youth participant must complete this project to be able to participate in the auction and only Blue Ribbon animals with a rating of “excellent” qualify for sale.
The proceeds of the auction benefit Ulster County’s 4-H youth livestock producers, the next generation of farmers in Ulster County. You may purchase a live animal for processing, to take home or donate the animal back. If you choose to have the animal processed, you will decide on how you want it cut. An expert will contact after the auction to assist you. For this option, you will pay the processing fees and the 4-H’er will hand deliver your meat.
