Free Movie Night "Forgotten Farms" *CANCELLED*

  • Wednesday, July 11, 2018, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

**EVENT CANCELLED**

We are working to reschedule this showing at a later date and are also considering showing it in the 4-H Youth Building on one of the nights at the Ulster County fair this year. This will allow us to reach more people and spread the word about the state and the future of New York Dairy (I’m hoping to get the local dairy princess to make an appearance as well!)

We apologize for any inconvenience. Do you have any suggestions or would you like to be involved? Please feel free to contact me.

ORIGINAL EVENT NOTICE

Join us for the July meeting of PUGs (Progressive Ulster Graziers)*, where we will watch the movie “Forgotten Farms”, an award-winning documentary about the struggles faced by small dairies in the northeastern United States, focusing on 16 dairy farmers.

We invite you to join us for this compelling film.  For a printable flyer click here.

Forgotten Farms “gives us a glimpse into the past and a vision for a future regional food system” and “shows the cultural divide between the new food movement and traditional farming, highlighting the need to examine differences, develop mutual understanding, and find common ground.” - www.forgottenfarms.org.

We will also host a guest speaker to answer questions about the intricacies of dairying in the 21st century.

For more information on the film, visit forgottenfarms.org.

*PUGs is a group of local graziers which meets every other month to review techniques and procedures pertaining to progressive grazing practices.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County provides equal program and employment opportunities. Please contact the program office at 845-340-3990 if you have any special needs.
