Small Ruminant School at Glynwood

Join us for Small Ruminant School at Glynwood, 362 Glynwood Road, Cold Spring, NY.  

Instructors:

  • Dr. Tatiana Stanton, Small Ruminant Specialist, Cornell Dept. of Animal Science
  • Jason Detzel, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County
  • Donald Arrant, Glynwood Livestock Manager

Small Ruminant School will introduce participants to small ruminant care, including:

  • Nutritional needs
  • General health guidelines
  • Lambing and kidding practices
  • Pasture management instruction

Optional breakout sessions at 3:30pm will feature:

  • “Five-Point Check”/Body Scoring
  • Tubing and intraperitoneal (IP) injections
  • Hay evaluation
  • Birthing stations

We will meet at the Main Office. Lunch will be provided.

About the Instructors:

  • Dr. Tatiana Luisa Stanton is the Small Ruminant Extension Specialist for the Dept. of Animal Science, Cornell Sheep and Goat Program. She is the primary organizer of the Cornell Goat Program. http://blogs.cornell.edu/goats
  • Jason Detzel is the Livestock Resources Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County
  • Donald Arrant is Glynwood’s Livestock Manager.
