Hudson Valley Grain School: Making Grains Work on Modest Acreages

Join us for the 2nd annual Hudson Valley Value-Added Grain School which includes a Trade Show. This year’s theme is “Making Grains Work on Modest Acreages”, featuring expert talks on grain production, small-scale grain storage, and understanding grain quality parameters for brewing and distilling.

Location:  Anthony’s Banquet Hall, 746 Route 23B in Leeds, NY, just off the Catskill exit 21 of the NYS Thruway, centrally located between Orange and Washington counties.

1:15 PM: Update on crop insurance for small grain crops - Sarah Johnston, NYS Dept. of Ag and Markets

1:30 PM: Making grains work at Gleason Grains on 115 acres with dry beans, soybeans, and clover - Ben Gleason, Gleason Grains, Bridport, VT

2:20 PM: Making grains work at Four Star Farms on 280 acres with turf, hops, and corn - Gene L'Etoile, Four Star Farms, Northfield, MA

3:10 PM: Managing Grains that will be Used for Seed: testing, weeds, and diseases - Aaron Gabriel, Regional Agronomist, CCE Capital Area Ag and Hort. Program

3:30 PM: Adjourn and Trade Show

3.5 CCA credits have been approved and 0.75 DEC credit has been approved in categories 1A, 21 and 10

Registration:  Grain School registration is just $40/person and includes a catered lunch.  Registration deadline is February 1.  Sorry, no refunds.  Register early to reserve your space!  Note-tables are full for the Trade Show
