How did the Erie Canal impact wheat production in the Hudson Valley? How did land distribution patterns of the 1700’s affect the apple industry in our region? Elizabeth Higgins, Agriculture Program Leader from Cornell Cooperative Extension Ulster County (CCEUC), will take you on a 300 year journey of the Economic History of Agriculture in the Hudson Valley. From the earliest days of Dutch settlement to the rise and fall of the Catskills resort industry we will see how changing political and economic forces have shaped our agricultural economy.
This FREE presentation is part of CCEUC’s Annual Meeting which will take place on Thursday, December 4 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at CCEUC’s Education Center located at 232 Plaza Road, in Kingston.
