Join CCE Ulster for its 2025 Annual Meeting on December 11th at 6 p.m. at our office on 232 Plaza Road, Kingston, NY 12401, along with a panel with local food systems professionals to discuss food insecurity in Ulster County. There is a snow date of December 16th in case of inclement weather.
In Ulster County, food prices continue to increase and pressures - such climate change and socio-economic shifts - continue to challenge our local food system. 23,310 people in Ulster County are food insecure including 4,570 children.
We know that in the last six years, more of our neighbors are seeking assistance at food pantries, soup kitchens, and other charities throughout the Hudson Valley. How can we get more local, healthy food to local people? How can we ensure that no one in Ulster County needs to worry about where their next meal will come from?
During our Annual Meeting, CCE Ulster's Healthy Communities Senior Resource Educator, Ninette Warner, will moderate a panel discussion that will grapple with these questions. Kristin Kessler (Ulster County Department of Health), Bryn Roshong (Crop Shop), and Devon Wood (Kingston Emergency Food Collaborative), will discuss the challenges and opportunities that we, as a community, have to increase access to the fresh, local food for local people.
The Annual Meeting will also include a short session of official business at the beginning of the meeting. This official business will include brief words from our Executive Director, Melanie Forstrom, nominations of new board members, and a special Friend of Extension acknowledgment.
All meeting attendees will receive a limited-edition CCE Ulster tote bag. Light refreshments from local businesses will be provided.
The event is free but space is limited, so please register with the link below.
