CCE Capital Days is a 4-H event where youth visit Albany and see government in action. We (CCE with the support of CALS) visit every year to meet every one of our legislators and share the work we are doing in their districts. The legislators and staff say, “we can tell Cornell is in the house” because we set up in the lobby with a dozen exhibits, everyone is wearing red, and there are teams of Executive Directors all over the building sporting CCE name tags. We also learn from elected officials what they are hearing from their constituents – this year it was “hemp smells terrible”. We got to sit in on testimony of the 2020 budget from the heads of DEC, Ag & Markets and NYSERDA and we talked with Senator Metzger’s staff about farm-to-school efforts and expanding the great programming of the NYC watershed to others in the district.
Here is CCE Ulster’s ED, Jared Buono, with Senator Metzger and one of our 4-H youth representing the Relatives as Parents Program with the collaborative “Travelling Eco-mural” project. More details on the mural project can be found at http://ulster.cce.cornell.edu/travelingmural
