After earning a BS in Biology Messiah College, Matt’s love for Environmental Education began in Northern Michigan where he learned to teach young people and share his love for the wilderness. He went on to teach outdoors in Maryland and Massachusetts before landing in the Hudson Valley at the Ashokan Field Campus where he became part of the education staff.
He and his wife started a family and Matt returned to school and earned a Masters of Art in Teaching degree at Bard College and became certified to teach middle and high school science. Not satisfied in a classroom, Matt continues to reach youth and adults at CCE through the 4-H Program.
Matt has discovered that his professional passion reflects the goal of 4-H; engaging youth to reach their fullest potential. Matt has worked with young people in a variety of settings during his career but nothing compares to bringing together communities of youth and adult volunteers to create life changing experiences.
Matt loves to hike, camp, and run and when not working is busy raising two daughters.
