Farmworker Training: Driving in New York State

If you want to know more about New York State driving laws, but don’t know who to ask for accurate information, join us for this training, designed for Spanish-speaking farmworkers and developed by the Cornell Farmworker Program.
Registration is free and includes dinner.

The instructor is Rosemary Quinn, Traffic Safety Assistant with the Mid-Hudson Health and Safety Institute at SUNY Ulster, with Spanish interpretation provided by Maria Cecilia Deferrari with CCEUC.
We will cover the basics of driving and licensing, including road signs and traffic lights, and will touch upon safety concerns such as:
- seatbelt use
- children’s car seats
- cell phone use while driving
- what to do in a traffic accident
- driving under the influence

Presentaremos los temas básicos del conducir y licencias. Explicaremos acerca de las señales en la calle, los semáforos, y trataremos temas de seguridad tales como:
- la utilización de cinturones de seguridad
- los asientos de niño para automóviles
- el uso de un teléfono celular mientras se conduce
- qué se debe hacer cuando hay un accidente de tránsito
- conducir bajo la influencia de intoxicantes.
